U12 Hurling Challenge

Cappamore 3-6 Caherline 0-5
Venue : Cappamore
09-April-2019
On a fine evening in Cappamore we hosted Caherline in an under-12 hurling challenge game. As both squads had big numbers we decided to play 15-a-side and it was an entertaining game played in a fair and sporting manner.
Both teams started brightly and after what was an evenly contested first half we led by one point, 0-3 to 0-2, mainly thanks to the accuracy of Jake Slattery from placed balls and a fine score from play.
The second half started in the same vein as the first with both teams trading points, but soon after our boys began to get on top. Three second half goals, one each from Alex Heney, Ben Ryan and Chris Smith turned the game in our favour. A good team display on the night and a deserved victory in the end on a final scoreline of 3-06 to 0-05.
Thanks to Patsy Coffey for refereeing the game
Team: Malachy Keogh, Tommy Dillion, Cillian O’Dwyer, Shane O’Neill, Cian O’Connor, Alex Heney (1-1), Jacob Wright, Jake Slattery (0-5), Cathal Mulcahy, James Ryan, Ben Ryan (1-0), Chris Smith(1-0), Darragh O’Shaughnessy, Thomas Shanahan, Andrew Caher.
Subs: Leo Keogh, Tadgh Blackwell

U12 Football Championship
Cappamore 10-11 South Liberties 1-01
Venue : Cappamore
11-April-2019
On Thursday last in Cappamore we hosted South Liberties in the first round of our U-12 football championship.
As both team play in very similar colours, we were asked to play with our jersey’s turned inside out, but this did not deter our boys as they put in a very dominant display from start to finish.
The first few minutes were cagey enough as both team sized each other up.
This didn’t last long though as Andrew Caher reacted quickest to long ball played into the South Liberties goal mouth, when he grabbed the ball on the bounce and turned and hit the back of the net. Soon we were 2-0 when Cian O’Connor added his first goal, and then the other forwads also found their scoring boots.
From here on in we were totally dominant and never let South Liberties get any kind of foothold in the game at all.
In the second half South Liberties did mange a few attacks on our goal and their pressure was rewarded, when they were awarded a penalty, when one of their players went over in the box. Cillian O’Dwyer did manage to get a hand to the spot kick but could not prevent it from going over the line, South Liberties soon added a point, but that was the end of their scoring. On a night we had nine different scorers on the score sheet, but it was not just abut the scoring, we had excellent displays all over the field from number 1 to number 18, with all squad members
playing their part
There will be tougher games ahead but a on this occasion it was thoroughly deserved victory on a final scoreline of 10-11 to 1-01.
Squad: Malachy Keogh, Tommy Dillion, Cillian O’Dwyer, Cian O’Connor, Alex Heney, Jacob Wright, Jake Slattery, Cathal Mulcahy, James Ryan, Ben Ryan, Chris Smith, Darragh O’Shaughnessy, Thomas Shanahan, Andrew Caher, Leo Keogh, Tadgh Blackwell, Tommy Hartnett, Dion Doyle

East U21A hurling Final
Cappamore vs Murroe Boher
0-17 vs 0-14
March 31st 2019

This was our final outing in the U21 Championship this season. We exit after a closely fought contest. After a tentative first quarter, the sides were level at 3 points each. Murroe Boher found their form in the second quarter and went to the brake 10 points to 5 points up.
With the interduction of Conor Fitzgibbon at half time and Darragh Hanley shortly there after, a move of Kevin Doyle to half back Cappamore started to hurl much better. We got the margin down to 1 point as full time approached. Murroe Boher got the next 2 points to finish the game out. We wish Murroe Boher the best of luck in the next round.

U14 Féile Camogie Qualifiers

The group qualification games commenced on Saturday 23rd of March in LIT. There were four groups of four teams with the top team in each group going forward to the A finals and the second placed teams in each group going forward to the B finals. We played three games in the group stage, winning two against St Ailbhes and Granagh/Ballingarry and losing one game to Kileedy. Finishing second in our group we qualified for the B semi final on Sunday v Adare. It was a tough and well contested game but unfortunately we fell short on the scoreline at the final whistle. The girls can be very proud of themselves, having reached the semi final of the competition was a great achievement. They showed great commitment and skill throughout the games. Overall it was a great weekend of Camogie for the girls and no doubt there will be better days ahead for this group.
